What Happens When You Stop Complaining for 30 Days (It's been 7 Years!) | #180

May 01, 20263 min read

What if the one thing draining your energy, your relationships, and your peace of mind was something you were doing voluntarily — every single day? In Daily Dose of Dawn #180, resilience coach Dawn Super shares the experiment she started in 2019 that completely changed her life: stopping complaining cold turkey. With 207 legitimate complaints on her list and zero intention of pretending life was perfect, Dawn chose silence over the cascade — and what followed was seven years of joy, self-love, and inner peace she never saw coming.

You have every reason to complain. No one would blame you if you did. But what happens if you choose not to?

Well, I decided to find out. And that's what I'm talking about today. So if you're interested in what happens to your life when you stop complaining and how to go about doing that, welcome in to your daily dose of Dawn at Dawn — videos designed to expand your thinking.

So what do you think would happen if you stopped complaining? I can tell you it absolutely completely changed my life.

In 2019, I stopped complaining about everything. Traffic, the weather, politics, people, situations, even my own symptoms. I wasn't able to complain in moderation. For me, complaining was always a cascade — cuz when I'd start with one thing, it would trigger my memory of another thing and then, "oh yeah, and then there's this" and "oh yeah, and then there's this."

When I made my list back in 2019, I had like 207 legitimate complaints on my list. And you know what? Some of those are still on my list. But you won't hear me complaining about it.

Because now when I hear complaining, I see the drain — not just to the person complaining, but to the people listening too. When you run into someone and all they do is complain, it can suck the life and energy right out of you. I know because it used to be me. I had a lot of icky things in my life and just listening to me talk about them was draining.

Okay, so what did I do about it? This all started as an experiment for me. Could I stop complaining for 30 days? And what happens if I succeed?

Well, I succeeded very well and kept going for the next seven years because it improved every single area of my life. It helped me live more happy matters and to always remember there's something to be happy about. And it helped me get OMOS — on my own side. And now I'm filled with joy and self-love and eternal peace.

And it all started with stopping complaining.
