Weekend resets without spending a dime. This is the Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn, number 90—videos designed to expand your thinking. You can also do this midweek if you work on the weekends.

Who is this video for? Anyone who’s interested in making their lives easier, happier, and more fulfilling without spending a dime. Welcome back to my Happy Matters Collective. If you’re new here, thanks for giving us a listen.

Why do we want to learn this? Life comes at us fast—sometimes like an avalanche of crap to deal with. Having tools to lead yourself through the challenges of life helps support your nervous system, reduce stress, and helps you feel better inside of yourself.

So what’s a weekend reset? What qualifies? Whether you have 30 minutes or three hours, just plan something nice for yourself and label it your weekend reset. You don’t necessarily need to spend money, but it’s not against the rules if you do.

So how did this come into my awareness? I’ve always been a ridiculously hard worker—like work ethic of three people. All the pattern-seeking I do makes me super fast and accurate. Narcolepsy for me can have two speeds: bat out of hell or out like a light. I actually had to teach myself how to relax my nervous system without falling asleep, but that’s a totally different video.

I’ve got a lot going on in this meatsuit. I live with about nine diagnosed things every day. And so my reset is the beach. I’m very fortunate to live about 25 minutes from Topanga Beach, so almost every chance I get, I go. It’s my happy place.

Driving through the Santa Monica Mountains, I can almost feel the energy of all the other people around me slipping out of my awareness. It feels like a vacation—just the drive alone. And that’s a big one, if you let it be.

You might not have a beach. You might not even like nature. The important thing isn’t what you do—it’s that it fills your tank as much as possible.

So what did I do once I realized this was a thing? I absolutely love the Jason Mraz lyric: You don’t need a vacation when there’s nothing to escape from.

What would that look like for you? If you’re doing work you enjoy with people you like, if you love the people you live with, if your stress is lower, vacations feel less like a rescue and more like a respite.

Create your own little mini-respites with the tools you already have in the life you’re already living. Your soul will thank you.

Does the thought of self-care make you feel selfish? Check out Self-Care vs. Selfish below. And yes—that’s something I had to teach myself too.

About the Author

Dawn Super is an empowerment coach, speaker, and writer who helps people thrive — not someday, but right now, exactly as they are. She knows firsthand what it’s like to live with lifelong health challenges, including narcolepsy, and has made it her mission to teach others how to show up for themselves with compassion, courage, and a little bit of humor and sass.
Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her meditating at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing (probably at one of her own jokes). Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
You can connect with Dawn, learn more about her coaching program and explore the many personal growth courses in her membership at DawnSuper.com.
