The whole world does not smile with you #79 - Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn 🌞
Holding on to your happiness can feel surprisingly hard when the people around you are stressed, complaining, or stuck in negativity. In Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn #79, Dawn Super explores emotional regulation, social influence, and why it takes intention to stay on your own side when others aren’t. Using a powerful study about group emotion and the idea of being “one of the eleven,” this post invites you to reflect on how much energy you bring into a room—and why protecting your peace is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself.

The whole world does not smile with you #79 Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn 🌞 (emotional regulation)
The whole world does not smile with you. This is the Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn number 79, videos designed to expand your thinking.
This Dose is about holding on to your happy.
Misery loves company. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase. I read about a study once. I don't remember what it was called. I call it one of the 11.
Quick recap of the study: they had someone waiting in a waiting room for an appointment and they sent in another person who started to complain about the traffic, the weather-whatever. And it didn’t take long before the new person got the old person to start complaining right along with them.
They repeated the experiment with two people waiting. Here comes the negative Nelly. Same result.
They had to have 11 people in the room in a neutral emotion before that one negative Nelly didn’t take down the entire room.
So you have to ask yourself: am I one of the 11?
And what does that mean? It means that one person can hold on to the energy level of 11 people and withstand other people bringing their drama to us.
Misery loves company. It's easy to get caught up in it. You have every reason to complain and a lot of people do. But to hold on to your smile when other people are complaining takes a special why.
And what do I mean by that? You have to know why you want to smile despite everyone frowning. What does that investment in yourself look like? What does that attitude you bring to your life change about your life?
It's funny because we're kind of hardwired to even get mad at people if they say, “Hey, smile.” We’re like, “I’ll smile when I want to smile. Don’t tell me to smile.”
But I think about smiles like a performance bonus. Like, you sold so many candy bars for the fundraiser, you get a prize. You handed out so many smiles-whether people bought them or not-you get a prize.
And the prize is: you feel good.
The prize is peace, calm, and feeling like you're on your own side.
So invest in yourself because you're worth it.
At one point in my life, I was working for an angry person and living with an angry person. I had to learn how to block all that out so I didn’t become an angry person. Check out What happens if I don't participate in the emotions of others below.
