Sometimes I feel like I'm always going to be a mess #78 Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn 🌞 (neurospicy)
Sometimes I feel like I'm always going to be a mess. This is the Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn number 78, videos designed to expand your thinking.
Some people think they used to be a hot mess or are a hot mess. I was a dumpster fire rolling down a hill. Like no joke. I didn’t know how to human for a very long time. I was miserable for my first 41 years.
And a lot of people think I have it all together now. They see my videos, they hear me talk about all this experience I’ve gained and all these lessons that I went through and worked through successfully, and they assume I don’t have any more. But yeah… it never ends.
Right before I started writing the idea for this Dose, I had a good cry. And I don’t even remember now what it was about because I wrote this a couple days ago, but I’ve been sleep-deprived my whole life. And that affects your emotional regulation, and it doesn’t go away - you just learn to manage it.
I’m definitely not in the same circumstances that I’ve been in in the past, but having it hard-coded for 41 years that nobody likes you… it takes serious dedication to overcome that in your own mind.
Lefty loosey, righty tighty. Use whatever tools you need to help yourself get on your own side - watch my videos, read the doses if you’d rather read, read my book How to Be on Your Own Side, join my collective at happy matters dot com. Dig into yourself. But know that this work is never done.
And bring the grit and give the grace. The thoughts still come. The triggers still trigger. The tears still fall. The key is not abandoning yourself or your beliefs while you fall apart a little bit.
And then just bring yourself back to where you want to be by being kind to yourself, holding your hand through it all, and leading yourself with love. You fare so much better at everything when you live life that way.
