Rinse it now or scrub it later – #57 Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn

I’m standing, looking at the pan from the baked shells I just made. It’s like this psychic ability kicks in and my brain watches the sauce on an imaginary timelapse getting more and more solid, then I see future me, scrub daddy in hand, elbow greasing it all off and my brain whispers… rinse it now, or scrub it later.

Motivational Mantra #432. This is yet another ‘right tighty, lefty loosy’ in my life. I have probably hundreds of them now, my mindset magic strategies. Not unlike the Barney Show, my brain will help me, as if I’m still a toddler, with all the things I’m still practice, practice, practicing by feeding them back to me in catchy phrases or song lyrics.

A speaker I love to listen to, has a great metaphor about change, about learning new things, about giving yourself and others grace. I’ll share it with you because I never forgot it after hearing it once… Abraham Hicks says… when you see a little toddler starting to walk and they wobble a little and fall down, you don’t say, ‘Get up you little dummy! What’s wrong with you?’

Just the visual of that made me laugh out loud and each time I laugh, I know the lesson is sticking. Laughter takes you out of defense mode and when you can hear things playfully or treat them like they’re not a big deal, it makes it easier for your brain and your body to want to do that again… oh, that worked? More of that then please.

When you find yourself scrubbing a pot, think to yourself… what could past-me have done to make this easier for now-me? Now replace ‘scrubbing a pot’ with whatever it is you’re facing – dirty dishes, talking too much, being an angry driver, forgetting stuff… all our personal things that we either don’t like about ourselves or don’t like that we do – they can all be altered. You can teach an old adult new tricks 😉.

Happy matters. That’s my favorite mindset magic phrase. It helped me save now-me from the programming of old-me and started a movement 🎇 🎇 🎇

About the Author

Dawn Super is an empowerment coach, speaker, and writer who helps people thrive — not someday, but right now, exactly as they are. She knows firsthand what it’s like to live with lifelong health challenges, including narcolepsy, and has made it her mission to teach others how to show up for themselves with compassion, courage, and a little bit of humor and sass.
Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her meditating at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing (probably at one of her own jokes). Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
