Discernment

What is your definition of thriving? Have you ever broken it down?

My definition of thriving is much simpler than it was 10 years ago.

Take a moment to think about it. Does your definition of thriving say you must be rich, the picture of health, the belle of the ball?

Or does your definition of thriving say you must like yourself, enjoy your life, feel grateful for the people in it and your experiences?

Even the internet says thriving is about confidence, resilience, purpose, and strong connections - not perfection.

My definition of thriving is living an authentic life, where I feel comfortable being me – all the time. Having a roof over my head, my basic needs met. Loving my work helping people feel better about themselves.

Do I still have pain? Every day. Am I still living with a debilitating chronic neurological disease called narcolepsy? Yes, and I will always…

Do I still have problems and meltdowns and cry? Of course.

Having negative things in your life doesn’t mean you can’t thrive. There isn’t a person alive who doesn’t have negative things in their life.

So, redefine thriving on your terms, as it suits the life you’re actually living.

Because when you change your definition - you change your life.

About the Author

Dawn Super is an empowerment coach, speaker, and writer who helps people thrive — not someday, but right now, exactly as they are. She knows firsthand what it’s like to live with lifelong health challenges, including narcolepsy, and has made it her mission to teach others how to show up for themselves with compassion, courage, and a little bit of humor and sass.
Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her meditating at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing (probably at one of her own jokes). Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
You can connect with Dawn, learn more about her coaching program and explore the many personal growth courses in her membership at DawnSuper.com.
