Be your own cup of water – Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn # 29
If you’ve watched a marathon, you’ve seen people handing runners cups of water. Just a sip can help so much in that moment.
Life is a marathon too… and sometimes we have to hand that cup of water to ourselves.
Recently I ate something that didn’t agree with me and it had a violent exit (barf). No fun. The next day, I felt weak and weary. So, I wrapped myself in my blanket, curled up in my swing and I swung, like a little baby put there to calm herself down.
I closed my eyes and let myself be comforted. That’s what it looks like to lead yourself with love. To be there for yourself when no one else is
After awhile I felt stronger, cared for and ready to go down and start my day. Comforting yourself when you’re going through it, is good medicine.
Counting back from 90, a meditation, an encouraging video like this one – they can all be a cup of water.
Be there for you. Don’t just push – push with love and compassion and in that, if you’re paying attention – you will see there is also joy.
Learning how to lead myself with love took me 15 years. I put all my best strategies into my book – How to be on your own side. It is my cup of water for you.
If you feel lonely, had a hard life, are still having a hard life… it will help. Change starts with action. Be your own cup of water. Get your copy today. How To Be On Your Own Side
