Welcome Yourself Home — and Watch What Happens | #165

April 10, 20263 min read

For most people, "welcome home" is something you say to others. But what if you said it to yourself? In Daily Dose of Dawn #165, resilience coach Dawn Super speaks to the person for whom home was never a safe word — who spent years dreading walking through the door, and who is now rebuilding and ready for something better. This dose is a simple, powerful act of self-care that costs nothing and might just change everything about how you feel when you walk through your own front door.

Welcome yourself home and watch what happens.

While this might be considered a cute idea for anyone, it's going to land differently for the person this dose is intended for. For this person, home was a four-letter word. Each time you had to go, the mental gymnastics began. You thought that would change when you got out on your own, but you ended up sharing space with people who left you feeling just like you did not want to go home. You managed to walk away from all of that now and you're rebuilding your life. Things are starting to feel good and you're open to them feeling better.

If this has found the person it aligns with, welcome in to your daily dose of Dawn at Dawn videos designed to expand your thinking.

So why think about this? Because it's an easy little something to do that can make your life better. Will it make your life better? I don't know, Donna, but I do know that it's simple enough to run an experiment and find out.

I have these boards in my garage left over from something and the other day I just decided to write welcome home with a heart on a piece of paper and stick it on the boards right where I could be at eye level when I got home from work. We have welcome mats to welcome others to our house. But I found it really nice to be welcome to my own house.

And this is what showing up for yourself looks like. Self soothing, creating comfort, being on your own side, doing little things for yourself just like you would for someone that you love. Cuz hey Vicki, you are someone that you love, right?

I hope you have a fun, amazing weekend. I'm going to do a quick shout for Lynne, Jane, Shelly, George, and everybody else who's listening every day. You mean so much to me, and I deeply appreciate you.

I'll be going to Topanga Beach. I've been picking up the rusty metal that's washed ashore from the Palisades fires for a while now. I've picked up over a hundred bags. I walk the rocks during low tide and dig them out of the sand. I'm calling myself a beach fairy now. Guardian of the sand. We all have the power to be super in our own way.

If you're on YouTube, I'd love to hear your plans for the weekend in the comments. If you're a Daily Dose subscriber, you can reply to the dose and let me know. Send a pic. I'd love to see what you're doing.

Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her picking up rusty metal at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing along at life. Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
