What if healing doesn't require you to dig through your past, solve old mysteries, or relive your pain? In Daily Dose of Dawn #162, resilience coach Dawn Super shares a reframe that stops people in their tracks: healing isn't about fixing what happened — it's about learning to feel safe in the present. If you've been waiting to feel better until you've "figured it all out," this conversation is going to change the way you think about your own recovery.

Healing isn't about fixing the past. It's about feeling safe in the present.

I heard it in a video and honestly, I just wanted to talk about it. So, this dose will be formatted a little differently just as a conversation to get anyone that wants to thinking about healing.

So, if that's you, welcome in to your daily dose of Dawn at Dawn videos designed to expand your thinking.

I had a really crappy life for a long time. I was picked on at school. I had no friends for 7 years. My parents were abusive, neglectful, self-absorbed. I have lifelong health issues, most likely from the things I just mentioned. There's so much more. But this isn't about me.

I've already gotten to this place where my past is the past and I'm thriving and loving my life despite being hard and crappy in the past and despite everything. So, this is about you.

I didn't get anywhere in my personal growth until I stopped trying to solve any mysteries from my past. You're not Nancy Drew. Start from today. Stop thinking about your suffering. Forgive yourself for everything you had to do to keep yourself safe and leave your pain here and go out and do your magnificent things.

This isn't shoving anything down. It's not ignoring your traumas. They happened. You can't unhappen them. What you can do is support yourself now. Get on your own side now. Learn the life skills you need - the ones you missed growing up, the ones your parents never taught you. Learn what they are and then go and teach yourself how to do this humaning stuff.

You can do that, Linda. Yes, you can.

Become a student of life. Learn how to thrive. I have over 200 videos of how I got here, plus my book. If you need help, call me.

About the Author

Dawn Super is a resilience coach, speaker, and writer who helps people thrive — not someday, but right now, exactly as they are. She knows firsthand what it’s like to live with lifelong health challenges, including narcolepsy, and has made it her mission to teach others how to show up for themselves with compassion, courage, and a little bit of humor and sass.
Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her picking up rusty metal at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing along at life. Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
