February 27, 20264 min read

What is “the space between,” and why does it cause so much stress? In this Daily Dose, Dawn Super explains how waiting for outcomes—tickets, court dates, decisions, unknowns—can activate your nervous system and keep you in turmoil. Learn how to hold your own hand through uncertainty and move from anxiety to grounded resilience.

So many of us are nearly destroyed by the space between.

This video is how I hold my own hand through it.

This video is for anyone who has trouble waiting for things — like waiting for the day to come, waiting for the outcome to occur. If you're getting triggered by that, this is for you.

This is the Daily Dose of Dawn at Dawn. Videos designed to expand your thinking.

What does that mean?

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and I was explaining that until you hear someone else talk about something or you read it in a book or a magazine or you come across it online, it doesn't come into your awareness.

So listening to things like this that bring new things into your mind gives you an expansion in your thinking and helps you be more creative and it just expands your database.

Okay.

So what is the space between and why do we want to learn how to deal with it?

The space between is point A and point B.

Point A would be you got pulled over and you don't know if you're going to end up getting a ticket out of it or not.

Point B is getting the ticket.

And then the next step in that would be point A becomes you got the ticket — now are you going to have to go to court or just pay a fine or what have you.

And so the resolution of that ticket would be point B.

And so a lot of times we can destroy ourselves in the space between point A and point B.

Like Dave Matthews even wrote a song about it. I think it was Dave Matthews.

Okay.

So we hear what you think about you bring about, but nobody teaches us how to think differently.

So in this I'm going to share how it came into my awareness and you can put it through the you filter and see how you can apply it in your own life.

I mean, think about it. It's always easier to deal with something the second time you have to deal with it. And if you've heard something about it, even before you had to do it, it just helps.

Welcome back to my happy matters collective. If you're new here, thanks for joining us.

So living with these kind of things keeps you in turmoil which keeps your nervous system activated which interferes with healing and feeling good.

So working through these things helps you feel better inside of yourself.

Hey Dawn, that sounds like word salad. What does that even mean?

It means if you're frustrated on your commute, gripping your steering wheel, clenching your jaw while spitting colorful adjectives at your fellow drivers.

Or if you have a soft pillow behind your back and you're sipping your favorite beverage and singing along with your favorite songs, the time still passes.

The only difference is how you pass through it.

So whatever it is that you're facing, there's one way to look at it and another way to look at it.

And it's up to you to hold your own hand through the space between until you get to the other side.

These are the kind of strategies you'll find in my book, How to Be on Your Own Side. These are the kind of strategies you'll hear in this Daily Dose and if you worked with me one-on-one as a client finding ways to help you through the things that keep you from living the life you really want to live.

Whether you work with me or you go through it on your own, never stop trying to find ways to feel better because it benefits you — not for any other reason than that it helps you get through a day.
