February 12, 20262 min read

Negative self-talk and overthinking can make our feelings sound convincing, even when they aren’t telling the truth. In this Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn, empowerment coach Dawn Super explores what to do when your feelings lie, how to interrupt harsh inner soundtracks, and gentle ways to support yourself through heavy mental and emotional moments.

When your feelings lie, how do you stop believing them?

This video is for anyone who talks down to themselves, self-sabotages from overthinking, or doesn’t like themselves as a soundtrack.

This is the Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn, videos designed to expand your thinking.

So, why do we want to learn this?

Just because you faced something down once doesn’t mean you won’t have to again.

By the way, have you seen my free guide, How to Like Yourself? It’s completely free. You can download it. Right here is the link and read it right there on the screen.

I don’t even remember now when I first started confronting my thoughts — like where I would have a thought that I didn’t want to think and I started arguing with it.

Sometimes that would be all it took. For me to assert what I wanted over the thought that was coming into my head.

Back then though, sometimes it was too much.

I just had rock-bottom thoughts going on. There was so much heaviness at that time.

And the only way that I could get a break from it was to drown my thoughts out.

I would play music and force myself to sing along — kind of like putting my fingers in my ears so my unconscious mind couldn’t hear what I was actually thinking about.

And that’s not a permanent place to live.

That’s respite care.

Your problems aren’t going to go away because you drown them out with music. But it is going to help you hold your own hand through it until you get to the other side.

And once you learn to be there for yourself in that way — to get on your own side in that way — it becomes natural to support yourself through the hard stuff.

About the Author

Dawn Super is a resilience coach, speaker, and writer who helps people thrive — not someday, but right now, exactly as they are. She knows firsthand what it’s like to live with lifelong health challenges, including narcolepsy, and has made it her mission to teach others how to show up for themselves with compassion, courage, and a little bit of humor and sass.
Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her picking up rusty metal at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing along at life. Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
