The top three things getting in your way. This is the Daily Dose of Dawn at dawn 🌞. Number 72, videos designed to expand your thinking.
Today I'm going to talk about an exercise I do with myself and I do with all of my coaching clients. Ahead of each session, I have them send me the top three things that are getting in their way and then I meditate on them ahead of the session.
It's often a lot easier to discuss these things with someone else because they can help you come up with strategies to deal with them on your own. Sometimes there can be simple solutions to the things that are getting in your way. Or at the very least, you can try to shift your perspective so that you look at it in a way that it’s not getting in your way.
Even if you can't do anything about them, changing the way you look at them puts the power back in your hands.
Let's say one of the things that's getting in your way is you have to fill out something complicated and you're having a lot of fear over it. The internet is so amazing right now. You can go onto YouTube or Google or even into a chatbot and say, "What are some ways of overcoming fear when filling out paperwork?" You can be that specific and you might find little strategies that will help you.
Like for me, I like to look at the form ahead of time and I will ask the chatbot questions and then verify it on my own. I work with a lot of complicated paperwork in my profession. I do freelance executive admin work and I don't always know the answer, and being able to find the answer alleviates a lot of fears.
So if you're afraid of something, find some fear-conquering strategies.
If you're having anxiety or panic attacks even, look for strategies to help you hold your hand through those and it'll make everything a lot easier.
If you want to go deeper, I have a video about clearing your mind without meditating. When you don't have a lot of noise in your mind, a hundred tabs open, hashing over and over old conversations-when that’s quiet, it’s a lot easier to take on your top three things.
So I highly recommend learning to clear your mind either through meditation or alternate techniques I talk about in my video below.
