Daily Dose of Dawn #25 – Keep your eyes on your own paper, comparison and self-worth

Keep Your Eyes on Your Own Paper | #25

Comparison can quietly drain your confidence and joy. In this Daily Dose of Dawn, Dawn Super shares how she stopped measuring herself against others and learned to use comparison as inspiration and redirection instead of self-judgment.

How I stopped comparing myself to others.

Look to others for inspiration, not approval.

Look at things you like as resonance

Look at things you don’t like as redirection

I always laugh when someone comments, “I wish I was doing as well as you are!” And I read it right after having a mini meltdown or a 3 hr nap

Most of my life I’ve felt like I was standing outside looking in – I used to think literally everyone was doing ‘better’ than me at humaning. Sleep deprivation + trauma is a truly wicked combo. I had to teach myself how to love myself (shrug) and it only took me 50 years! For real, no joke. Which means, no matter how old you are you can learn how to lead yourself with love. If you need help, call me, I’m amazing at it now.

Some mindset magic strategies that helped me to repeat:

Authenticity + Vulnerability = Genuineness & it’s a superpower.

Desiderata: If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Even the girl in the magazine doesn’t look like the girl in the magazine.

Looking around my life and going – love this, more of that. Less of that.

What you see in others is not necessarily what you get. Strive to be the best version of you that you can be and let everyone else do their thing.

Come as you are and let me love the real you

About the Author

Dawn Super is an empowerment coach, speaker, and writer who helps people thrive — not someday, but right now, exactly as they are. She knows firsthand what it’s like to live with lifelong health challenges, including narcolepsy, and has made it her mission to teach others how to show up for themselves with compassion, courage, and a little bit of humor and sass.
Known for her “mindset magic strategies,” Dawn brings a blend of practical tools, soulful insight, and real-talk encouragement to anyone ready to stop waiting for permission to love themselves. Her work speaks especially to those who’ve felt left out, misunderstood, or stuck on the sidelines — the misfits, the dreamers, the rebels, and the overcomers.
When she’s not coaching, creating, or writing, you might find her meditating at the beach, virtually socializing, or laughing (probably at one of her own jokes). Dawn believes that self-love isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a radical act of rebellion in a world that profits from your doubt.
